Money Saving Healthy Tomato Pasta Sauce
I don’t buy pasta sauce. Decent makes of pasta sauce are normally over a £1 and if you read the label they often have sugar, salt and yeast all added ingredients I try to avoid. I think it is cheaper and more healthy to make your own pasta sauce. A really easy way to make a tasty healthy sauce is to use passata. You can usually buy a tub of passata for around 60p.
Here is a simple recipe which can be the base for lots of meals for example add mince to make a spaghetti bolognese. This recipe is so easy it has only two steps. Try it out, so simple but really tasty
Ingredients:
2 tsp olive oil
1 onion chopped
1 clove garlic crushed
2 tsp mixed herbs
1 tsp oregano
ground black pepper
1 tsp worcestershire sauce
2 tsp tomato puree
1 tub passata
(optional – 1 glass red wine)
Method:
- Heat oil in a large frying pan, add all ingredients except the passata and cook for roughly 3-5 mins or until soft.
- Add passata (wine if using) to frying pan, simmer for 10 mins.
Sounds delicious! I love pasta!
